Adding New Icon in Your CRM Entity

By Siddharth on 11/6/2014

In this blog, I will describe how to add new icon to an entity of CRM System. To achieve this, you will require two icons of size 16x16 and 32x32. These icons can be in the format of .png, .gif or .jpg files.

Process for adding icons is described below:

1. After logged-in into your CRM System you need to go to the Settings.

 Then select Customization menu item.

Screen will display as below. Click on Customize the System.

2. Now click on Web Resources on left navigation menu then click on New.

You need to add a web resource for each icon file (16x16 and 32x32). One web resource can hold only one file at a time. Fill Name and Type of web resource that is mandatory. Please remember do not use special character and space between the names of the Icon file this cause error. In Type field, you can define which type of file you want to upload (.png, jpg or gif file format supported only for image files).

Now click on save button. Repeat above steps again for adding another icon file to other entities.

3. Now we have successfully created 2 Web Resources for icon. You need to apply these web resources to an entity. I have applied  it on Order Item Entity. To do this, click on Entities in left navigation menu. When you click on Entities then it will expand. Select Order Item entity from expanded view. On clicking Order Item, this form will appear as shown below:

Select Update Icon from top menu.

4. A new window appears, you can select web resources (already created) for both sizes (i.e. 16x16 and 32x32) here. After selecting appropriate web resources, click on Ok.

I hope this will help you adding icon to MS CRM Entities.

Note: You cannot add icon to default entities in MS CRM.
