Duplicate records are a common issue in any system that manages data. Whether you’re working with customer details, product listings, or employee records, duplicates can create confusion, slow down workflows, and reduce overall efficiency. To tackle this, Merge Control provides a streamlined solution for merging duplicate records in a React-based application.
What is Merge Control?
Merge Control is a feature that allows users to merge two duplicate records into one. When merging, you decide which record to keep as the primary record, while the duplicate is deleted. The process also lets you swap values between the two records before finalizing the merge, ensuring no important data is lost.
How Merge Control Works
Here’s a step-by-step guide to merging records using Merge Control:
Step 1: Enable the Merge Option
-Log in as a Host User.
- Navigate to the Customization page via the Settings icon.
- Select the desired DB Object and open it.
- Enable the Allow Merge option on the details page.

Step 2: Access the Grid
- Log in as a Normal User.
- Open the page where the grid of the selected object is displayed.

Step 3: Select Duplicate Records
- From the grid, select any two duplicate records.
- Click on the Merge button.

Step 4: Review and Configure in Merge Control UI
You’ll be redirected to the Merge Control interface, where you can:
- Choose the Primary Record (the one you want to keep).
- Select the Duplicate Record (the one you want to delete).
- Swap values between the two records using radio buttons for field-level control.
Step 5: Merge and Confirm
- Click the Merge button.
- A confirmation popup will appear.
- Click Proceed to finalize the merge.

Step 6: Completion
- A success message will confirm that the records were merged successfully.
- Click Go Back to return to the grid and continue merging other duplicates if needed.

Why Merge Control Matters
By enabling controlled merging of records, this feature helps organizations:
- Maintain clean and accurate data
- Improve efficiency by reducing confusion from duplicates
- Enhance user confidence in the system’s reliability
With Merge Control, data integrity is no longer a tedious manual process but an efficient and user-friendly experience.
